LS® HP - hydrogen peroxide

A versatile oxidation agent

Hydrogen peroxide is a powerful yet environmentally friendly oxidizing agent that decomposes into oxygen and water. It is an essential ingredient in multiple applications, from the deepest mines to outer space.

Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) is used for bleaching of both mechanical and chemical pulps, supporting elemental chlorine free (ECF) bleaching, and as the main product in totally chlorine free (TCF) bleaching methods. Hydrogen peroxide is also used in other industries as a specialty oxidant. Other applications include mining, batteries, water treatment, cellulosic textiles, food packaging, and cleaning.

We offer hydrogen peroxide that is concentrated using an energy-efficient and cost-effective solution.

The most common method today for producing hydrogen peroxide is the anthraquinone auto-oxidation process. An anthraquinone solution continuously circulates in a closed loop and is the carrier for the controlled reaction between hydrogen and oxygen. At LS@ we focus and encourage energy efficient approach for HP production and concentration. We focus on highly efficient use of raw materials and energy from easy-to-operate process. With the objective of reducing carbon footprint we have focused on reducing energy requirements for HP production and concentration. Wherever possible, LS@ facilities obtain their energy from renewable sources. Additionally, in-place environmental and control systems minimize emissions to the atmosphere and water.

Product grades

Hydrogen peroxide

Chemical grade with HP concentration 30% to 90%:

This grade is highest purity and is designed to meet the stringent demands of customers in chemical and metal processing applications and the electronics industry. In the chemical industry, hydrogen peroxide plays a major role in the production of both inorganic and organic products. Hydrogen peroxide is used in surface treatment within the metals and electronics industry; it is used for etching, polishing and cleaning, plus it eliminates nitrogen oxide gases (NOx) in connection with nitric acid-based pickling operations. Hydrogen peroxide is also used as a reducing agent in the production of chlorine dioxide – a bleaching agent used in the pulp industry.

Hydrogen peroxide

Food Grade with HP concentration 1% to 35%:

This is a high-grade disinfectant that is often used in healthcare settings, cleaning, virus and mold remediation. It is a high purity, food grade hydrogen peroxide, suitable for use in the aseptic packaging industry. This hydrogen peroxide grade is suitable for food industry applications where the requirements of the FDA Food Chemical Codex standard are required. 3% HP, typical concentration for household products and 6–10%, the concentration in some hair dyes and teeth whitening products.
